Yasmin Johnson is a proud Wulgurukaba woman from Yunbenun (Magnetic Island) and Townsvile, with cultural ties to the Ngaro and Gooreng Gooreng peoples. She brings lived experience, cultural authority and over 20 years’ expertise across DFV, justice, disability and community we lbeing sectors. Yasmin specialises in designing cultura ly grounded, trauma-informed programs that strengthen healing, safety and community autonomy for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, families and communities.
As CEO of Maburra Colective and an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Independent Member on the national Data Policy Partnership, she provides executive leadership, policy insight and community-centred advocacy that drives transformational change across systems.
Yasmin’s creative and research contributions have been nationa ly recognised. She is the recipient of the Boundless Indigenous Writer’s Mentorship and a Creative Australia Elevate Award for her project Weaving Memory: Aboriginal Women’s Stories of Strength and Healing. Yasmin’s academic research contribution was awarded the 2025 TASA Best Paper Award for Health Sociology, reflecting her commitment to cultura ly grounded storyte ling and amplifying Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women’s voices across health, justice and healing systems.
