Georgina Binjuda is a proud Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander, managing the Lena Passi Women’s Shelter Assoc. Inc., the only one of its kind in the Torres Strait region catering for women and children escaping domestic and family violence and homelessness due to domestic and family violence, since 2009.
Georgina’s passion for enhancing the wellbeing of families and communities in the Torres Strait has driven her to build a career spanning over 20 years. As an advocate for women and her region she understands the many challenges and opportunities of living and working for community in community.
Attending numerous workshops, conferences and summits, as well as advocating Georgina has sat on numerous Boards, advisory committees and reference groups representing social issues and indigenous affairs in particular Torres Strait Islanders on local, state and national levels.
