Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Founding Practice Lead and Trainer – Domestic and Family Violence
Heart Based
Georgina Ambrum is the founder of Heart-Based and an accredited Social Worker and active member of the Australian Association of Social Workers. She holds a postgraduate Master’s degree in Mental Health Practice and has worked across a range of practice areas, including intergenerational trauma, mental health, child protection, child and family trauma, and domestic and family violence. Through this work, Georgina has witnessed both the healing potential of systems and the harm they can unintentionally cause. In response, she has developed a suite of transformative training programs that promote empathic, culturally responsive and client-centred practice.
A proud Torres Strait Islander woman, Georgina is grounded in the strength and resilience of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. Through Heart-Based, a 100% Indigenous-owned business, she supports organisations to take meaningful steps towards change, strengthen cultural understanding, and improve outcomes for children, families and communities.
